Artists are hired for one season. Their contract can be renewed for a second, then a third season. They take part to the Paris Opera’s productions (second and lead-roles, understudies) and to the concerts and tours of the Opera. They will be offered an artistic support for their activity.

The artists are hired on a fixed-term contract and receive a monthly salary from 16 August 2024 to 13 July 2025 included. The salary amount will be based on and take into account the background of each artist. We are hiring eight singers in the following categories: soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, baritone, bass-baritone, bass.

Selected candidates will commit to be fully available to the Paris Opera for the entire duration of their contract, except when a written permission for absence has been granted. The Paris Opera reserves the right to reject a candidate who has already signed a contract with another employer which limits their availability during the time of engagement within the company.

Auditions will take place at the Paris Opera:

• Eliminatory round: on March 21 and 22, 2023 at the Bastille Opera studio
• Final round: on March 23, 2023 on the Bastille Opera stage

Auditions are not public.
The composition of the jury is decided by the General Director of the Paris Opera and will be communicated later.

Candidates must prepare a choice of four opera arias in three different languages. One of these languages must be French.

The arias must be sung by heart and the singers must bring the scores for the accompanist who will be provided by the Opera. However, candidates may be accompanied by their personal pianist upon prior request.
The candidate chooses their first aria and announces it.
The jury may hear all or part of a second aria chosen from list prepared by the candidates.

The results of the eliminatory round will be announced after deliberation, on March 22, 2023. Selected candidates will then be invited to the final audition on March 23, 2023.

The final results will be communicated later after deliberation.
The decisions of the selection committee are final.

Being at least 18 years old on 1 August 2024.

The application for must be filled online by 19 February 2023.

The file must include, among other things:

• A copy of the national identity card or passport (pdf file)
• A résumé including the training course and the repertoire (pdf file)
• A recent photograph (pdf file)
• 2 links to audio or video presentation of 2 opera arias performed by the artist, recorded less than five years ago.

Incomplete applications, or files submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

A pre-selection based on the application files will be done.
Candidates selected for the audition will receive an invitation to attend between February 27^th and March 5^th, 2023.
