Ballet

Audition to recruit dancers for the Corps de Ballet. Temporary and permanent positions available.

Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Palais Garnier

The audition is open to candidates who are between the ages of 16 and 26 on the date of registration. All applications will be processed and a shortlist of successful candidates will be prepared.

Audition programme

  • Initial qualifying round: dance class
  • Second round: classical variations chosen from the Paris Opera’s repertoire.    
  • Female candidates:

    There will be two tests :

    • a dance lesson (qualifying round) ;
    • then a compulsory variation : « La Belle au Bois Dormant », Prologue, variation de la Fée, choreography by Rudolf Noureev after Marius Petipa, music by Piotr Ilyitch Tchaïkovski.

    Male candidates:

    There will be two tests :

    • a dance lesson (qualifying round) ;
    • then a compulsory variation :
      « La Sylphide », Acte II, 1st variation of James, choreography by Pierre Lacotte after Philippe Taglioni, music by Jean-Madeleine Schneitzhoeffer.
