Biography

Christophe Dumaux performs on major international opera stages: The Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Opéra national de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Staatsoper in Vienna, the Theater an der Wien, and the Lyric Opera in Chicago. He has performed with conductors including René Jacobs, William Christie, Emmanuelle Haïm, Gianluca Capuano, Giovanni Antonini, Harry Bicket, Andrea Marcon, Ivor Bolton, Philippe Jaroussky, and Francesco Corti. He has also worked with directors such as David McVicar, Robert Carsen, Calixto Bieito, Barrie Kosky, David Alden, and Richard Jones.

In recent seasons, he has sung the roles of Ottone (Agrippina) at the Hamburg State Opera, Polinesso (Ariodante) at the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow; Athamas (Sémélé) at the Zurich Opera; , Tolomeo (Giulio Cesare) at La Scala in Milan; and the title roles of Orlando at Theater an der Wien and Teatro Real in Madrid; Giulio Cesare at the National Opera in Amsterdam; and Il Gustino at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. He has also performed Vivaldi's Melindo in La verità in cimento at the Zurich Opera and Cavalli's title role in Il Giasone at the Antwerp Opera and Endimione in La Calisto at La Scala in Milan.

Last season, he played Arsamene (Xerxes) and Nero (Agrippina) at Opernhaus Zurich, Polinesso at Opéra national du Rhin, and the title role of Giulio Cesare at Carnegie Hall in New York, at London's Barbican Center, with The English Concert and at the Salzburg Festival. In the 2025-2026 season, he performs Polinesso at London's Royal Opera House, MusikTheater an der Wien, Teatro Real Madrid and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, as well as the title roles of Tamerlano at Théâtre de Karlsruhe and Giustino at Teatro Real Madrid.
