Originally trained as a violinist, the Franco-Finnish conductor Aliisa Neige Barrière graduated from the conducting class at the Sibelius Academy in 2023. She gained conducting experience as a guest concertmaster and section leader with ensembles such as the Ensemble intercontemporain and the Oslo Sinfonietta. She explores a repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary music. From 2021 to 2023, she served as assistant conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and as a young conductor in residence with the Aarhus Sinfonietta. She has worked with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
She made her debut at the Philharmonie de Paris, sharing a concert with Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Ensemble intercontemporain, and the Orchestre de Paris. She has conducted the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at the Ojai Festival and was artist in residence at the Turku Music Festival.
Her recent projects include Émilie by Kaija Saariaho with the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra in Porvoo, as well as concerts and recordings with the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Athelas Sinfonietta.
Debut at the Paris Opera.
