Russian baritone born in Vyborg, Alexey Markov sings roles such as the Count di Luna (Il Trovatore), Giorgio Germont (La Traviata), Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Don Carlo di Vargas (La Forza del Destino), Iago (Otello), Posa (Don Carlo), Baron Scarpia (Tosca), Marcello (La Bohème), Michonnet (Adriana Lecouvreur), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), Amfortas (Parsifal), Tomski and Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Valentin (Faust), and Escamillo (Carmen).
He has appeared in numerous productions at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Lyon National Opera, Zurich Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Royal Ballet and Opera, Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and the operas of San Francisco, Amsterdam, Dresden, Hamburg, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Geneva, as well as at the Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence Festivals.
In the 2025–2026 season, he will perform roles including Giorgio Germont and Baron Scarpia at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Escamillo at the Vienna State Opera, Baron Scarpia in Florence, and the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Palace of Arts in Budapest.
