Biography

Alan Mandelshtam has been working since 2013 in the theatre. He managed the Video department of the Gogol Centre in Moscow until its closure and was video designer for the Theatre at the Malaya Bronnaya.

He is working with many directors, including Kirill Serebrennikov, Konstantin Bogomolov, Philip Grigoryan, Maxim Didenko, Nina Chusova, Anna Guseva, Elmar Senkov, Alexander Gorchilin, Philip Avdeev, Nikita Kukushkin and Teodor Currentzis.

His productions include The Demons of Dostoevsky, Hamlet in Moscow, Tanya by Arbuzov with the Theatre at the Malaya Bronnaya, New Optimistic with the Moscow Art Theater, Mayakovsky. Tragedy, Who Lives Well in Russia based on Nekrasov’s poem, The Man Without a Name based on Pechenkin at the Gogol Centre in Moscow, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet at Moscow Musical Theater, Carmen, The Flying Dutchman a tPerm Opera, The Nose at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Der Freischütz at the Dutch National Opera, The Black Monk, based on Tchekhov, at the Avignon Festival, and Perséphone at Perm Opera.
