Admission procedure for girls and boys from 11 to under 13 years old as of September 1

Registrations for the 1-year course reserved for children aged from 11 to under 13 are open from September 1 to January 09, 2026.

Calendar

The admission is done by means of a training period at the end of which pupils take an entrance examination to the school. For children from 11 to under 13 years old on September 1^st 2025, the training program will last one year from September 2026 to June 2027.

Registration forms must be completed online only from September 1^st 2025 to January 09^th 2026 inclusive, on the dedicated platform.

A preliminary selection will be made on file.
Selected candidates will receive an exercise video to film and send back (exact dates will be communicated soon).
Final candidates will receive an invitation to audition in May 2026.

One-year trainees will be registered at the Paris Opera Ballet School for the 2026-2027 school year. At the end of the school year (June 2027), they will take a competitive which will determine their admission as full-time students for the following year, beginning in September 2027.

The 1-year training program is dedicated to girls and boys aged between 11 to under 13 as of September 1^st of the audition year.

You can apply via the dedicated platform on our website. No application sent via post or email will be taken into consideration.

Please, make sure that you follow every step of the application process and that you don’t forget any required document, in the right format (formats are indicated in the form). Incomplete or non-compliant applications will not be taken into consideration.

In order to finalise your application, you will need to proceed to the payment of the 51€ registration fee. This fee is non-refundable and can be paid by credit card only. Once the payment for your registration fees goes through, you will receive a confirmation email for your application.

Once the application review has been completed, selected candidates will receive a link to a video demonstrating exercises they will need to reproduce and submit as a private video link (for example, via YouTube).

Candidates who are successful in this video round will then be invited to a final selection, which will take place at the School in Nanterre. This final stage will consist of a classical ballet class adapted to their age and the expected level.

Candidates are never alone in front of the jury.

Parents then receive a registration file to complete and send back rapidly, so that they can begin at the School in the following September.

For school year 2025/2026, 1-year trainees will be registered at the Paris Opera Ballet School for the 2025-2026 school year. At the end of the year, they pass a competitive exam in June 2026 which will determine their admission as full-time students for the following year, beginning in September.

In case they would not be admitted, they can apply for the training program selections of the following year, depending on their age.

Students have their education divided in two parts each day: in the morning, from 8 am to 12 am, the students attend academic classes and in the afternoon, they have ballet classes.
The students have a lunch break with a meal they necessarily take at the School restaurant, then the ballet lessons start at 1.30 pm, with a break and a snack at the restaurant between 4.30 pm and 5 pm. They can have one or two classes of 1h30 each every day, apart from rehearsals.

The School has a boarding house, open from Sunday evening to Thursday evening included. Half-board is compulsory, as well as the snack, but the boarder-house is not. It is a service offered to families.

Families must be able to come and pick up their children in case of illness or accident. This is the reason why families who live outside the region of Paris must have a person living in Paris or in the nearby region. During the Spring, 1-year trainees can take part in the rehearsals and the Ballet School performance.

The cost of boarding for the academic year 2025-2026 is as follows:

€2052 for the 1^stterm (September to December)
€1539 for the 2^nd term (January to March)
€1539 for the 3^rd term (April to June)

The cost of the canteen for the academic year 2025-2026 is set at €9.71 per day for half-boarders (lunch and afternoon snack).

Children whose families do not live in Paris or the Paris region are required to have a so-called host or correspondent family living in Paris or the surrounding area. This family will be responsible for taking care of the child if they fall ill, taking them to the doctor if needed, or hosting them on weekends when the boarding school is closed . The School does not assist in finding these families.
