To mark its anniversary season, the Paris Opera is inviting illustrators to reinvent the posters for its productions and to propose their personal interpretation of a work. Kevin Manach explores Verdi's drama with Simon Boccanegra, currently running at the Opéra Bastille. He proposes a "retro" composition in which his classicism of line and that of the Doge's posture and attitude contrast with the palette of colours used and the representation of the horizonless sea coming to reclaim the poisoned corsair.
