The general terms of sale herein apply to subscriptions, individual ticket purchases and performance programme vouchers for the 2023/2024 season purchased from the Paris Opera. The Opera reserves the right to change the general terms of sale at any time, particularly in the event of statutory changes.
Gift vouchers, Pass’ Saison, Pass’ Jeunes, Carte Familles and other special offers are subject to specific terms of sale and usage. These may be consulted online (at operadeparis.fr) or obtained from the box offices of the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille.
The general terms of sale for groups and firms are available from the “Service Groupes”. Group orders for tickets and group subscription requests (10 tickets or more per performance) must be made by e-mail at groupes@operadeparis.fr.
The use of the data collected during every purchase is made according to the personal data protection regulation as detailed in the Privacy policy available in the Legal section on operadeparis.fr.
Orders for individual subscriptions (up to 9 tickets per performance) are processed within the limits of seats available and, where applicable, within the limit of seats allocated to a particular offer or subscription series. Orders for most subscriptions may be placed from April 17, 2023 until end of May 2023 according to availability. All subscription plans are available on the Opera’s website at operadeparis.fr, in which case the purchase is made online with immediate effect. With the exception of “abonnement jeunes” subscriptions, subscription plans can also be purchased with an appointment at box offices, and ordered by post (for the “abonnement libre” only), with payment enclosed, exclusively using the subscription form intended to that effect. The forms in question can be found in the Subscriptions brochure or downloaded from the website. All forms that are incomplete, incorrectly filled out, unsigned or sent without payment will be rejected. For orders made by post, seats may be upgraded or downgraded to the seat category immediately above or below if there are no more seats available in the category initially requested by the customer, subject to the customer’s prior agreement. Payments by credit card or direct debit will be modified automatically. Subscription orders must be sent to: Service Abonnements – Opéra national de Paris – 120 rue de Lyon – 75576 Paris cedex 12. The reduced rates for certain subscriptions are unique to each offer and limited to a particular allotment of seats for a selection of dates and categories, or linked to a minimum number of performances purchased.
Aside from the particular conditions governing subscriptions, tickets for performances may be purchased on or after the opening date for sales indicated in the sales opening date calendar on our website. At the discretion of the Paris Opera, purchases may be limited in terms of the number of seats per performance, per person, and / or per category. Opening dates for sales may be modified by the Paris Opera without prior notice. The Paris Opera cannot guarantee the availability of all productions, all dates and all categories by all sales channels. Orders are processed by the Paris Opera subject to availability after the subscription campaign.
Bookings can be made:
Tickets for seats in the 6th category at the Palais Garnier (partial to no visibility) are only available for purchase at the theatre box office on the day of the performance in question.
The Paris Opera offers a cancellation insurance policy which must be purchased at the same time as the subscription or performance tickets that are the object of the insurance.
The insurance policy may be purchased online at operadeparis.fr, by mail, by telephone or at the box offices. If the subscription is taken out at the box office, the notice of the general terms and conditions of sale will be provided on site. A withdrawal period of 30 days applies except in the case of subscription taken out at the box office. The cancellation insurance is associated with one or several theatre tickets and covers the entire order.
The complete conditions of the cancellation insurance are available online at operadeparis.fr, as well as at the Paris Opera’s box offices.
In accordance with article L 121-17 and L 121-21-8 of the Consumer code, there is no withdrawal period in which to cancel online purchases of theatre tickets and programme vouchers.
The Paris Opera reserves the right to change the price of its seat categories and its productions at any time. However, any such modification will not apply to orders that have already been paid for.
Any means of payment that is not provided for in the general terms of sale will be refused by the Paris Opera. Corporate payments are not accepted.
Depending on the subscription package in question, payments may be staggered or settled in full. Full payments may be made by credit card (Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express) or by cheque or postal order made payable to the Opéra national de Paris. Foreign cheques in euros must be cleared in France.
In the case of payment by cheque, the amount must be indicated and the cheque must be made out to the Paris Opera. The Paris Opera shall not be held responsible for any prejudice caused by the omission of this mention on the cheque by the client.
Staggered payments must be made by monthly direct debit (available to residents of countries in the SEPA zone) or sent by mail. A €10 handling charge will be added per subscription (not including postage). Direct debit requests must be made by June 30, 2023. A schedule of monthly direct debits will then be drawn up and sent to the spectator. In the event that a customer’s banking details have changed, the relevant standing order forms (signed direct debit mandate and bank account details) must reach the Paris Opera three weeks prior to the payment-due date.
Tickets purchased at the box offices of the Paris Opera may be paid for in cash, by bank card (Visa, Eurocard / Mastercard, American Express), bank cheque or postal order made payable to the “Opéra national de Paris” upon presentation of proof of identity or with gift certificates in accordance with the specific conditions governing their usage. Foreign cheques in euros must be clearable in France. Tickets purchase by phone or online can only be paid for by bank card (Visa, Eurocard / Mastercard, American Express) or with gift certificates.
The Paris Opera reserves the right to change or modify performances, and in particular, to provide a concert version when conditions do not allow for the presentation of the performance as originally planned. In particular, the Paris Opera reserves the right to make substitutions to the cast. In the event that a performance is cancelled by the Paris Opera, the face value of the ticket paid by the customer to the Paris Opera will be refunded by the Paris Opera within one month following the performance date at the customer’s request on condition that such a request is made within three months of the date of the performance in question. Refunds will only be made on presentation of the complete unused ticket and the relevant banking details (R.I.B. for French banks) or bank card/American Express card number complete with the expiration date excluding any other right to additional financial damages or compensation. These conditions do not apply in cases of Acts of God, which specifically include the requisition or closure of the Opera House by any public authority for any reason whatsoever and national strikes.
Tickets will not be refunded if a performance has to be halted after it has passed its midway point.
Special-rate tickets are issued subject to providing the necessary documentation associated with that ticket.
Tickets will be sent out no later than two weeks prior to the first performance by registered mail with acknowledgement of receipt (for a fee of €8) excepting foreign addresses, or by regular mail (for a fee of €4). Tickets may also be downloaded and printed free of charge by the purchaser from their personal page on the opera’s website at operadeparis.fr once payment has been processed. For subscriptions paid by standing order, tickets will be mailed as the final payments are processed. Subscription tickets cannot be picked up at the box office. The Paris Opera must be informed of any changes to a customer’s physical address or e-mail address. Customers may update their personal information themselves on operadeparis.fr or they may do so by e-mail at mescoordonnees@operadeparis.fr or by writing by regular mail to the following address: Service Spectateurs – Opera national de Paris – 120 rue de Lyon – 75576 Paris cedex 12.

A fee-based exchange service (€10 per ticket) by telephone or at the box offices is available up to 48 hours prior to the performance in question, subject to availability.
Subscribers can exchange their tickets free of charge for another performance of the same season, subject to availability. In the case of an exchange for another production between one month and 48 hours before the date of the performance, a fee of €10 per seat applies.
The difference in price between the new seats chosen and the original seats will be charged to the applicant if the new seats are priced at a higher rate. If the new seats are priced at a lower rate, the Paris Opera will issue a credit note for the difference.
Tickets for performances purchased from the Paris Opera may be resold, under certain conditions, through the Ticket Exchange service set up by the Paris Opera. The general conditions of use of this service can be consulted on operadeparis.fr.
