Groups

The general terms of sale apply to group ticket and group subscription sales (10 seats or more) for the 2015-2016 season. The Paris Opera reserves the right to change the general terms of sale. Gift vouchers are subject to specific conditions of sale and usage which are available for review online (at operadeparis.fr).

1. Field of application

Group subscription plans, specific group option requests and firm online group purchases are intended for employee organizations, associations, groups of friends or tourism professionals and groups with an educational vocation. Subscriptions for the 2015-2016 season may be ordered from February 4 2015 onwards by the person acting as group representative/proxy. Orders will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis from February 5 through May 20, 2015, subject to availability. Requests for specific options and firm purchases for a given performance in the same seat category can be made from the opening dates outlined in the schedule of opening dates for bookings in the brochure for groups and professionals. All options must be paid for by the payment deadline which will be specified in the summary confirming the options.

2. Requesting and ordering group tickets and group subscriptions

Orders will be processed by the Paris Opera, on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.

Orders may be placed as follows

  • Online at operadeparis.fr
  • By fax or regular mail, using only the specific form provided. Order forms must be sent to the following address: Opéra national de Paris / Service Groupes / 8 rue Scribe / 75009 Paris, or they may be faxed to +33 (0)1 40 01 25 40. Subscription requests should be e-mailed to: abosgroupes@operadeparis.fr and all requests outside subscriptions should be e-mailed to: groupes@operadeparis.fr.
  • Requests for subscriptions or options that have been accepted by the Paris Opera will be specifically confirmed by the Paris Opera within three weeks. If no response has been received when the deadline expires, the representative of the organization should contact the Service Groupes of the Paris Opera by telephone at +33 (0)1 40 01 80 54 (Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 2 PM to 4 PM) or by e-mail at: groupes@ operadeparis.fr. Only written confirmation from the Service Groupes giving a summary of the requested options (performance, price category, number of seats, individual price and total amount) guarantees the group representative that the request has been accepted and confirmed. Once such confirmation has been received, recipients are recommended to verify the contents of the option. Any complaints concerning an option should be made immediately by telephone (+33 (0)1 40 01 80 54) and confirmed in writing to the Service Groupes of the Paris Opera. Confirmed options may be allocated in a seat category immediately above or below the category initially requested, should no seats be available in the category initially requested by the group representative.

3. Prices and terms of payment

All prices are quoted in euros and include VAT. All payments must be settled in euros.

The Paris Opera reserves the right to change the price of a performance at any time. However, any such change will not apply to orders already confirmed by the Paris Opera.

A. SUBSCRIPTIONS

Payments for subscription orders should reach the Service Groupes no later than May 20, 2015:

  • By credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Amex, JCB) in a single payment (please include the card number, the expiration date and the security code).
  • By cheque or postal order in a single payment made out to Opéra national de Paris. All cheques must be drawn on a French bank. The amount must be clearly marked on the cheque.
  • By direct debit. Request an IBAN with a BIC code from the Service Groupes. The spectator number together with the case file number provided by the Service Groupes of the Opera national de Paris must appear on the transfer order.
  • By split payment: If your subscription is comprised of 4 performances or more, you may split your payment into two or three instalments depending on the subscription plan. All split payments will be subject to a €10 surcharge per subscription plan to cover processing costs which will be added to the first instalment.

- Subscriptions comprised of less than 4 performances must be paid for in full.
- Subscriptions comprised of 4 performances may be paid for in two instalments.
- Subscriptions comprised of 5 performances or more may be paid for in three instalments.

All split payments will be payable monthly by direct debit. The first instalment will be debited on the 10th of the month following the processing of your request. The remaining instalments will be debited according to the payment schedule that will be sent to you.

In the event that you wish to make split payments, please include the following with your order:

  • A completed and signed form authorizing the SEPA direct debit.
  • A R.I.B from a bank based in France.
  • A stamped, addressed envelope with the name and address of the bank from which the debit will be made.

Direct debits on accounts with banks located outside of France cannot be processed. No direct debits will be processed after November 10, 2015.

B. GROUP SALES OUTSIDE SUBSCRIPTIONS

Payments for tickets ordered outside subscriptions must be made in full in a single payment:

  • By credit card (Mastercard, Visa)
  • By American Express
  • By cheque or postal order made out to Opéra national de Paris. All cheques must be drawn on a French bank.
  • By direct debit. Request an IBAN with a BIC code from the Service Groupes. The spectator number together with the case file number provided by the Service Groupes of the Paris Opera must appear on the transfer order.
  • By official purchasing order. The relevant document must reach the Service Groupes before the payment deadline and by mail only.

Payment should be settled with the Accounts department of the Paris Opera. Failure to pay for services rendered will result in the application of a fee equivalent to one and a half times the statutory interest rate (Law 92-1442 of 31 December 1992).

All methods of payment that are not provided for in the general terms of sale will be refused by the Paris Opera.

If payment is not received by the payment deadline indicated on the confirmation notification, the tickets will be put back on sale. Once payments have been received, all orders are definitive and may not be exchanged, cancelled or modified.

C. NO RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL

In accordance with articles L121-17 and L 121-21-8 of the French Consumer Code , the right to withdraw cannot be applied to the online purchase of performance tickets and programme vouchers.

4. Online purchases

A. ORDERING TICKETS

Tickets outside of subscriptions may be purchased as of the opening dates for option requests as outlined in the schedule of opening dates in the Groups brochure. Sales may be restricted in terms of the number of tickets per production or performance, per person, and /or by seat category at the discretion of the Paris Opera. The opening dates for sales may be changed without notice by the Paris Opera. The Paris Opera cannot guarantee the availability of tickets for any performance, date, or seat category in all of its authorized sales channels. Bookings can only be made online at the Opera’s website at www.operadeparis.fr from the “Groups and professionals” page.

If customers do not receive an e-mail confirmation or rejection of their order within 24 hours, they should contact the Paris Opera by e-mail at the following address: groupes@operadeparis.fr.

B. PAYMENT

All tickets purchased online must be paid for by credit card (Eurocard / Mastercard, Visa, JCB, Carte Bleue). American Express, or gift voucher.

C. DELIVERY OF TICKETS

Tickets will be sent out by mail.

Tickets sent by regular mail will be subject to a €3.50 handling fee per order. Tickets sent out by registered mail (to addresses in mainland France only) will be charged €7.50 per order (handling fees included).

In the event that purchased tickets have not been received three business days prior to the date of the performance, the customer should contact the Paris Opera by telephoning 08 92 89 90 90 ( €0.34 per minute, not including any independent carrier fees ) or +33 1 71 25 24 23 if calling from outside France, from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM and from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays (except public holidays).

5. Changes to and cancellation of performances

The Paris Opera reserves the right to modify its productions and in particular to propose a concert version when conditions do not allow for the presentation of the performance as originally planned. The Paris Opera reserves the right to make changes, particularly to the cast. In the event that a performance has to be cancelled by the Paris Opera, except in the event of an act of God—which expressly includes the requisition of the Opera for any reason by any State authority and/or in the event of a general strike—the face value of the ticket paid by the customer will be refunded by the Paris Opera upon request from the group representative made within a maximum of three months following the date of the performance in question and upon presentation of the complete unused ticket and the relevant bank details (RIB for customers in France or a credit card, American Express or JCB number together with the expiration date) to the exclusion of any other right to additional financial damages or compensation such as travelling or accommodation expenses. Tickets will not be refunded if the performance has to be halted after its midway point.

6. Delivery of tickets purchased with or without a subscription

Tickets cannot be collected directly from the Opera without the specific agreement of the Paris Opera.

Tickets will be sent by regular mail (tickets sent to addresses in France will be subject to a €6 processing fee. Tickets sent to addresses abroad will be subject to an €8 processing fee). Tickets may be sent by registered mail at the customer’s request. The customer will be charged a €10 processing fee for tickets sent to addresses in France and a €15 processing fee for tickets sent to addresses abroad. The Paris Opera cannot be held responsible for any loss, theft or delay of tickets that may arise during delivery. Any change of postal or e-mail address or change of the group’s representative after an order has been made must be reported immediately by mail to the following address: Opéra national de Paris / Service Groupes / 8 rue Scribe / 75009 Paris. No refunds will be made by the Paris Opera in the event that tickets could not be delivered due to a failure to signal a change of address or a change of representative as stated in the previous conditions. In the event that tickets have not been received 8 days prior to the date of the performance, the group representative should contact the Opera’s Service Groupes by telephone at +33(0)1 40 01 80 54 or by e-mail at: groupes@operadeparis.fr.

Once tickets have been received, recipients are urged to verify the contents of the order. Any complaints pertaining to an order should be made by telephone at +33(0)1 40 01 80 54 and confirmed in writing to the Service Groupes of the Paris Opera prior to the date of the performance.

No duplicate tickets will be issued except with the specific agreement of the Paris Opera and they will be limited to numbered seats only. If such agreement is given, the duplicate tickets will be available for collection at the Paris Opera on the evening of the performance. In the event that the performance is cancelled, under the conditions stated in article 5, duplicate tickets, after specific authorisation from the Paris Opera, will be reimbursed by mail only (on condition that the relevant bank details are attached).

A. DELIVERY OF TICKETS PURCHASED WITH A SUBSCRIPTION

Tickets will be sent out in a single mailing for single payments, and in two or three mailings for split payments. In the event that a direct debit payment is rejected, the Paris Opera will defer sending the tickets until the following month when the direct debit request will be re-presented to the bank. After full or partial payment has been received, the relevant subscription tickets will be sent to the group representative by July 15 2015 at the latest (unless otherwise agreed by the Opera national de Paris.

B. DELIVERY OF TICKETS PURCHASED OUTSIDE A SUBSCRIPTION

7. Tickets and conditions of use

The first ticket presented at the entrance to the theatre invalidates any others that may be presented later. Tickets cannot be returned or refunded, notably in the event of loss or theft. Tickets cannot be resold except for on the platform set up to that effect by the Opera national de Paris. As such, the Paris Opera reserves the right to refuse access to any person in possession of a ticket obtained from any organization other than the Paris Opera or a third party mandated by it. Any holder of a ticket obtained within the current offer is forbidden to use that ticket for any promotional or commercial purposes. Failure to respect this clause may result in legal action. In particular, the sale, resale or exchange of tickets without the specific consent of the Paris Opera is strictly forbidden and will result in legal action as provided for under the French penal Code (the law of June 17, 1919).

8. Conditions of admission to the paris opera’s auditoriums

Appropriate attire is required. Only those people holding a valid ticket will be allowed into the auditorium. Each ticket is valid for one seat only. Ticket holders may not sell or distribute any product or item on the Opera's premises.

The doors to the auditoriums are closed as soon as the curtain is raised. Latecomers will be obliged to wait until the end of the first scene or first act of the performance to be seated. Photography, filming, or recording of all or part of a performance is strictly prohibited. It is forbidden to consume food and/or drink in the auditorium. Children under the age of three are not allowed in the theatres except for performances specifically intended for them.

9. Claims

All claims must be made in writing no later than 8 days following the date of the performance and sent to the Paris Opera by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, to the following address: Service des Relations avec le public / Opéra national de Paris / 120 rue de Lyon / 75576 Paris cedex 12. For all deadlines, the postmark will provide the proof-of-posting date. Customers enjoying special conditions of access to a Paris Opera performance as a result of special agreements between the Paris Opera and a partner (theatre, museum, airline, etc.) cannot under any circumstances, hold the Paris Opera responsible for any failure of the aforementioned partner to fulfil its obligations. For all tickets to performances that are not produced by the Paris Opera, the general terms of sale should be checked at the performance venue or the producer’s main office.
