Introducing young people to the arts of opera and ballet. - An extensive, diversified culture for everyone
The aim of the Opera-University programme is to show young people how to listen to opera, and enable them to understand the process of producing operas and ballets while considering the aesthetic issues involved. The educational potential of opera, its all-embracing aspect through the many disciplines involved (such as music, the visual arts, the performing arts, literature, theatre, history, science and technology) and the direct contact with the professional world are all major assets in the effectiveness of this awareness-raising project. Since its creation in 1995, Opera-University has formed numerous partnerships with higher education establishments, university departments, grandes écoles, preparatory classes, experimental lycées, art schools and conservatoires in the Paris region, the French provinces and other countries.
