In few words:

Ignoring bad omens and warnings from his entourage, Igor goes to war against the Polovtsi and their leader, Khan Kontchak. In his absence, his brother-in-law Galitsky reigns as a despot. On the battlefield, Igor is taken prisoner. While their love for their children makes an alliance between Kontchak and Igor conceivable, the prince wants to save his honor and wants revenge. He refuses. Fifty years after the first performance of Prince Igor at the Palais Garnier by the Bolshoi Theatre company, Borodin’s opera – with its famous Polovtsian Dances – today enters the Paris Opera’s repertoire in Barrie Kosky’s first production for the Paris Opera.
