Director Philippe Béziat and graphic designer Gordon form a duo collaborating on several projects combining music and audiovisual. The Paris Opera’s 3e Scène entrusted them with an exceptional project: a carte blanche based on a rare interview with Pierre Bergé. They chose a drive across Paris to scatter his words along the way. In the interview, the latter notably describes his relationship to music, his presidency of the Opéra Bastille; the birth of which was nothing short of a Wagnerian saga. The directors chose to intertwine these memories with a piano transcription of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, producing a musical film as documentary as oniric. In this interview, Gordon & Béziat discuss the creation of the film and the emotion that sprung from their meeting with Pierre Bergé, who passed away only months later.
