For the love of theatre

Interview with Vincent Dedienne — By Milena Mc Closkey

Vincent Dedienne distils his ironic eloquence and caustic pen or theatre stages and television sets. The young actor and comedian had never written for cinema before. The Paris Opera’s 3e Scène is his testing ground with Médée, co-written with director Mikael Buch. In the short film, Vincent Dedienne plays a son that everything dissociates from his mother – portrayed by Nathalie Baye – until an opera performance seduces and reunites them. In this interview, Vincent Dedienne evokes the making of the film, the comic potential of an evening out at the Opera and his eternal love for theatres.
