Eliminatory rounds: from July 2nd to 4th, 2024

Candidates must be able to present :

Four opera arias

  • One opera aria in French
  • One opera aria in Italian
  • One opera aria in German
  • One opera aria in a language of the candidate's choice

NB: Of the arias proposed by the candidate, 3 must be chosen from the list attached to this announcement (read more on the Muvac registration webite). Candidates are required to sing the opera arias without score.

First round

One aria of the candidate's choice and possibly a second at the jury's discretion.

Second round

1/ Rossini's Grande vocalise (forte and piano), to be transposed to the ascending and descending chromatic scale
2/ Imposed chorus excerpts (see details below)
NB : candidates can sing the chorus excerpts with score.
3/ A sight reading
NB : this imposed sight-reading test is not eliminatory.

Third round

1/ Two or three opera arias from the list attached (at the jury's discretion)
2/ Rossini's Grande vocalise (forte and piano with a climax on the highest note), to be transposed to the ascending and descending chromatic scale
3/ Imposed chorus excerpts (see details below)
The scores of the choral excerpts are available on Muvac.com after registrating for the audition.

Candidates may be interviewed by the jury during each of the rounds.

  • Acte 1, n°3, Chœur des cigarières : du chiffre 55 à 3 mesures après 69 (« La cloche a sonné »)

G. Verdi - Requiem

  • Fugue finale ("Libera me, Domine"), du repère E / chiffre 100 à la fin

I. Stravinsky - The Rake’s Progress

  • Acte 3, Scène 1 : des chiffres 1 à 39 ("Ruin, Disaster, Shame")

R. Wagner - Der Fliegende Holländer

  • Acte III, n°7 : de 8 mesures avant le chiffre 245 à 255 (« Johohoe ! Johohoe ! »)
