From Brahms to Korngold, the art of the sextet

By Coline Delreux

Every year, the Paris Opera proposes a selection of chamber music concerts, featuring the Orchestra's musicians on the stage of the Palais Garnier. To mark the concert devoted to sextets by Brahms and Korngold - which can be viewed on our new "l'Opéra chez soi" platform - Octave attended the final rehearsals. An encounter with the principal solo violin, Petteri Iivonen, who joined the Orchestra in September 2019 and looks back over his career, his experience as a violinist and the challenges of working in an ensemble of six.

Concert Korngold
Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957) is, in many ways, a remarkable figure...
