L'Opéra de quatre notes

Amphithéâtre Olivier Messiaen - from 08 to 10 December 2016

Synopsis

Welcome backstage, behind the scenes of one of the most demanding works of all: an opera! An opera in which the five vocal roles narrate no grandiose story, but one that employs their vocal talents to express their doubts, frustrations and joys in song whilst using just four notes (A, B, D, and E). Audiences will revel in the contrast between the mathematical severity of the music and the comic absurdity of a libretto that refuses to take itself seriously. Set in the avant-gardist aesthetic of the 1970s, this new production by Gilles and Corinne Benizio is an exhilarating chamber opera full of humour, imagination and virtuosity.
