Synopsis
It was in the nineteenth century that the French "mélodie" acquired its letters patent. Composers paid immense attention to the choice of poem and were particularly attentive to the relationship between the music and the poetic text. For this recital of melodies the singers of the Academy have chosen great French poets, especially Théophile Gautier, Victor Hugo and Charles Baudelaire.
