As part of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of Richard Wagner’s birth, the Paris Opera and the Ensemble Justiniana are presenting a production designed to introduce the Wagnerian masterpiece The Ring to a wide-ranging audience. This evocation of Wagner’s world opens the door to one of Western art's key works, seeking to reflect the magic, poetry and depth of The Ring. The production evokes a magical universe, with its giants, dwarves, dragons and other imaginary characters, along with pitfalls, magic draughts and love potions. The story centres on the ring, the object of universal desire, as the characters head off on a quest filled with intrigue and suspense. The hero of this adventure is Siegfried, the guide for this journey through Wagner’s masterpiece.
