La belle Maguelonne
With his Maguelone Lieder, which would become one of the pillars of the repertoire, Brahms composed his first cycle of lieder. He was in his early thirties. From Naples to Babylon, these fifteen love songs plunge us into a vast Medieval epic in which the destinies of a valiant knight and his beloved maiden run into each other. To paint this great portrait, Oliver Pohl accompanies actress Marthe Keller and baritone Roman Trekel on the piano.
