Tribute to Frederick Delius

Tribute to Frederick Delius II
To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Delius, the Amphithéâtre is devoting two evenings to the English composer who was born the same year as Debussy. For the first, soprano Lynne Dawson performs a programme of melodies reinstating Delius in the often neglected realms of English music from the 19th and 20th centuries, between Ralph Vaughan Williams and Roger Quilter. The second evening focuses on Delius’ instrumental works, which re-anchor the composer in the European arena, between Robert Schumann and Edvard Grieg, and highlights the exhilarating influences between those creative minds.
