Witold Lutoslawski, one of the 20th century's greatest composers, was born a hundred years ago.
The Atelier Lyrique and the Institut polonais de Paris will mark this anniversary with a concert of melodies at the Amphithéâtre Bastille featuring Chansons pour enfants and the cycle Chantefleurs Chantefables to poems by Robert Desnos, miniatures on childhood subjects in the tradition of French music, miniatures rich in colours, both delicate and sensual. An opportunity to perform several melodies by Debussy and Ravel, French musicians that the Polish composer particularly appreciated.
