Discovering the Opera

Each class participating in the programme visits both Opéra Bastille and Palais Garnier as well as the city neighbourhood of the two opera houses.

Several interviews with technicians, administrators, craftsmen and artists working at the Opera are organized. Each interview is a unique opportunity, lasts for one hour and takes place in the workshops, offices, meeting rooms, rehearsing studios and stages where the professionals work. The meetings are prepared at school together with the teachers, and are reinvested in the classroom.

The students are invited to attend rehearsals (stage-orchestras, pre-dress rehearsals and dress rehearsals) as well as performances during the season at Palais Garnier and Opéra Bastille.

The sum of the students’ writings and drawings after their visits, interviews, attendance is finalized at the end of each season in the students’ Journal.
