THE BALLET SCHOOL

Admission

Pupils are admitted on the basis of a course at the end of which they take an entrance examination to the school.
There are two types of course, one lasting six months (from January to June) and the other a year (from September to June) depending on the pupil's age.

To follow the course, pupils must meet both physical (including height and weight) and technical requirements.

The 6-month course from January to June 2013

Girls and boys aged between 8 and less than 11 on 1 September, 2012.

Admission

Requests for admission forms must be made between 1 September and 3rd October 2012:

by mail specifying the child's date of birth and including a stamped A5 envelope marked with the parents' address (or two stamped A5 envelopes with the address of each parent in the case of separation). Applications should be sent to the following address:

An admission form will be sent to you by post or e-mail as of 1 September 2012.

Admission forms must be returned to us by post postmarked 15 October 2012 at the latest.

Candidates meeting age, size and weight  requirements (see table below) will be called in for an initial selection on Wednesday 14 November 2012.

Candidates retained on 14 November will be called in for a second selection on Thursday 15 November 2012.

At the end of the course, in June 2013, students will take an examination determining their admission to the Ballet School for the school year 2013-2014.

The School possesses a canteen open from Monday to Friday and a boarding house open from Sunday evening to Friday evening. Half-board is obligatory but not the boarding house which is a service proposed to families. Families must be able to collect their child in the event of sickness or accident (at the School or the Clinique de la Defense or another emergency service). For this reason, it is imperative for families living beyond the Paris region to have a correspondent in the Paris region. Teaching is free of charge.

2012/2013 rates for full boarders:

1305€ per term: each term started is due. (This rate includes lodging and full board during the week). The course is divided into 2 terms payable at the beginning of each term

Tarif 2012/2013 pour half-board :

150 € per month approximately (according to the month and price changes)

The one-year course from September 2013 to June 2014

Admission

Exceptional admissions during the course of the school year

Girls and boys between 13 and under 17 on 1 September 2012

pupils from the C.N.S.M.D. of Paris possessing at least the certificate of dance (classical dance option) in June July 2013,

pupils from the C.N.S.M.D of Lyon possessing at least the certificate of dance (classical dance option) in June July 2013,

After audition and on decision of the School Director assisted by three professors, they may be allowed to enter directly the first, second or third division of the School according to their age and their aptitude.
Audition requests must be addressed by post 6 July 2012 at the latest, specifying the teenager's date of birth and containing a stamped A5 envelope with the parents' address. The audition date in September 2013 will be sent by post.

 

Winners of international contests and candidates between13 and under 17
Winners of international contests and candidates between 13 and under 17 on September 1, 2012 may exceptionally be allowed to enter the School. A preliminary selection is made on the basis of the application form. Selected candidates are called in for audition in front of the Director assisted two professors.

Advanced training courses with admission fees

The Ballet School proposes advanced training courses accessible by audition to candidates aged 13 and over eager to perfect their training and whose level is high enough to follow courses in the class corresponding to their age. These advanced training courses may last one or several terms. Their duration cannot exceed two years. They do not give the right to take part in the in-house entrance competition to the Ballet. At the end of the training course, trainees receive a certificate certifying that they have successfully completed the course. Admission procedures and applications are the same as those outlined in the preceding paragraph (category 2).

Course rates for 2013-2014: Prices depend on a decision by the Opera which will be taken at the beginning of 2013. As an indication, in 2012-2013 rate were as follows: 1st term: 1200 €; 2nd term: 800 €; 3rd term: 800 €. Teaching fees are due at the beginning of each term.
