PRODANA NEVESTA
Comic opera in three acts (1866)
Music by BEDRICH SMETANA (1824-1884) Libretto by KAREL SABINA
Performed in Czech
Created in Prague in 1866, Smetana's Bartered Bride entered the Paris Opera repertoire in 2008. Still the Czech Republic's national opera, it remains a model for folk opera in general. Alongside Piotr Beczala, Inva Mula plays the gentle but determined Marenka in Gilbert Deflo's delightful production.
